i m . m a t e r i a l offers a temporary platform for intervention and exhibition for indigo-dyeing to expand beyond a textile craft into a blue space for the sensory engagement with natural indigo dyes at Vienna’s central meeting area, the Michaelertor. From 9-13 May, i m . m a t e r i a l presents the personal, creative responses to indigo-dyeing by the artists Linda Brassington, James Muriuki and Lisa Niedermayr

i m . m a t e r i a l continues at the Weltmuseum Wien where selected INDIGO exhibits of the museum’s collections draw attention to the global and timeless presence and use of this natural dye.

i m . m a t e r i a l was realised by the Austrian Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the Burghauptmannschaft Österreich within the framework of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage. Curated by Lisa Niedermayr und Gabriele Detschmann.
